It’s the month of LOVE . . . and everybody seems to be charmed and smitten by the intoxicating aroma of LOVE or let's say most of us are enchanted by the spell of a mystical thing called LOVE. . .
When I was a child, I already have this interest in reading different kinds of stories and I happened to encounter some love stories written in Disney Books. The plot mostly starts with a girl falling in-love with a dreamy prince charming, then this prince charming in return will fall in-love to this ordinary girl. Everything was magical and wonderful, but of course we must not forget the antagonists: the wicked witches and the really bad step sisters and step mothers. But as always the plot closes with a happy ending. Since then, I always believe that love stories are like fairy tales. You got to meet your prince charming, fall in-love, live in a great castle and of course live happily ever after.

However I had gone confused when I approached my teenage years. This is the time I got the chance to watch tragic LOVE stories such as Romeo and Juliet and the blockbuster movie Titanic. It’s like: “Oh no! It’s really heart breaking. How can that happen?” It’s very frustrating.
As I grow older, I somehow collected different ideas of what love should be or how it’s like when you are a slave of its fascinating world and its illusion. It leads me to one principle: LOVE is a feeling, a strong and pleasant emotion towards someone or something. So I live with this principle not really knowing what to expect, until I encountered LOVE itself with so much idealism of what I think is right and with that, somehow I missed some important points in my life. I forgot to discover the real source of LOVE and its true meaning. Being consumed with my emotional awareness, I just did not expect to fall, really FALL into LOVE’s painful realization . . . becoming unloved and insecure. . .
In our search for LOVE, we often think about LOVE as something that pops out of nowhere and when we feel ecstatic about it, we just accept it and live with it. We base LOVE on our emotion and something that we feel like satisfying the emptiness in our hearts. With this, many people were misguided and often end up suffering and in despair. I’m guilty of this before, where I became lovesick and frustrated.
The reason why our search for LOVE seems unsuccessful or rather pointless is that because we are missing the most important part of it, the main source of it. . . I tell you, believe it or not, we are very much aware of the source but due to our frenzy and our misconceptions about LOVE, we don’t even find our way towards the source, instead we tend to go far away from that.
People, I want you to know, in case it’s still unknown to you that the ultimate source of LOVE is who else but the creator of it . . . our heavenly Father, God, our Lord, who demonstrated the true meaning of LOVE by laying down His life so that all of us will be set free . . . 1 John 4:19 (NIV) “We love because he first loved us”. Unless we understand this, we can never find true LOVE neither we can be capable of loving right.
I’m not an expert of LOVE nor can be able to call myself Doctor LOVE, but I tell you what LOVE really is as I begun to discover the source and start to live my life with it. . . 1 John 3:16 (NIV) “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us”. With that, I came to know that LOVE is more than just a passionate feeling or a strong emotion. It is first and foremost the sacrifice that was laid for us so that we can have the gift of eternal life. . . Most of all LOVE is sincere and everlasting.
So for us to really understand LOVE, we need to go back to the source of it, our first LOVE who is God. Because God’s LOVE is ultimate and it sustains our life. . . Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Only with the LOVE of God we can be whole and satisfied. To experience the LOVE of God means living for eternity with peace within our hearts . . . Philippians 4:7 (NIV) “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. “
Are you searching for true LOVE? Go back to your first LOVE. . . God the ultimate source of LOVE . . . with this we will never lack anything . . . and for this season of LOVE, I hope each of us will not just focus on our selfish definition of LOVE but focus more on discovering a deeper relationship with our Creator, where the LOVE lasts forever. . .
